Digital Painting
Objectives
Digital printing is a modern method of production that makes prints from electronic files. It involves your artwork being created on a computer and then printed directly onto the material of your choice. Digital printing is an alternative to traditional methods such as lithography, flexography, gravure, letter press, and others it eliminates many of the mechanical steps required for conventional printing, such as making films and color proofs, manually stripping the pieces together, and making plates.
Course Content
In this course, students are taught the skills and traditional techniques of miniature painting. They are encouraged to develop an awareness and sensibility of contemporary practices of this art form. They learn the making of handmade brushes, and preparation of colors. The use of the traditional along with the contemporary approaches expand the vision and equip with technical possibilities.
Who is this program for?
This program encourages use of traditional techniques alongside new ways of looking at the constantly changing world of our electronic digital age. All intaglio techniques of dry point, etching, engraving, photoetching and aquatint, as well as planographic techniques of offset and direct method lithography, relief printing processes like woodcut and linocut, silkscreen and digital printmaking are tough. Digital Media refers to images created digitally on paper and other surfaces, using a wide variety of computer software.
